Create a subproject from an existing project

I have a project with a release-based schedule. I'm on my last release now,
and have been asked to provide Earned Value metrics from the start of this
release to the end of the project. The schedule has to be loaded into
Deltek's Cobra (EVM Tool). How can I create a subproject for this and still
have certain tasks linked to those that have been completed. I'm working in
MS Project 2003.

Thanks for your help,
nan

Establish the "EV Project Release" as a separate project, you can just copy
and paste to a Project1 file.

1 Open both projects: the project containing the task you want to link to
and the project containing the task you want to link from. You can certainly
insert one project as a subproject to the other.

2 In the Task Name field, click the task for which you want to create a
dependency to an external predecessor.
3 Click Task Information, and then click the Predecessors tab.
4 In the ID column, type the project name and ID number of the external
predecessor, separated by a backslash, for example Project1\1 for Task ID 1
in a file named Project 1.

There is a lot more help available in the help system. Try "External
Dependency" as a search term
