Hi,

A Task in the middle of a project can become critical if it has a must start
or must finish date or a Deadline date it can't meet. It ca also be critical
if it has no Total slack because of its successor tasks.

Hi ks

Rod has stated the issues that make a task critical.

Few things to be looked into your schedule. There are open ended tasks in
the schedule that could be causing this. Scene 7 - proc, scene 3 - proc and
scene 1 - teard are open eneded activites. There should be only one starting
activtiey with no predecessor and one last activity with no succeessor. All
intermediate activities must have some predecessor and successor. In your
schedule there are three independent paths and out of those the longest paths
are red in colour.

If there are simultaneous starting tasks, insert a milestone at the top and
make it the predecessor for these simultaneous starting activities. Similarly
modify if there are simultaneous finishing activities.

Also, summary tasks should not be linked as these are only headings for
groups of works and physically work happens in the sub tasks. Link the sub
tasks within a summary and with the sub tasks of other summary tasks as
appropriate.

Once you modify your schedule accordingly, you will get a logical critical
path.

I hope it helps.

What do you mean by original start screen?

If you want the Project Guide, then it is under Tools/Options/Interface.
