crop picture in word document

Why can't I change the *.bmp picture in my word document?
I tried to crop a picture in my word document - tried to add different
versions (.tif, .gif, etc). None of the picture can I crop nore resize.
Is their a default I have to remove so that I can change/ resize my pictures.

Hi Trisch,

If the graphic layout is set to 'inline with text' use
either Format=>Picture or the picture toolbar to change
it to a different layout wrap style and then apply the
crop tool.
