CRP task set-up...

I am managing a system implementation...

We have three separate 2-day conference room pilots (CRP) we want to host to
test the system.

At each of these CRP's, 50% of the attendees will spend all day (8 hours
each day) for the full 2 days, while the other 50% will spend a 1/2 day (4
hours) the first day and a 1/2 day the 2nd day.

All I want is to be able to do is nail this down to two days (i.e. it is
very high priority) but at the same time have the schedule reflect the hours
that each participant is required to spend each day.

I am using leveling to resolve over-allocations but it just seems to really
muck this up for the CRP. I feel like I have tried everything (priority,
don't level assignments, fixed duration, don't split).

Ideas?

Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I sounds like you need to set up resource calendars for each situation and
assign the appropriate resources to the appropriate calendar.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

I don't see how resource leveling would be of much help here. What it does
is when Joe is booked 100% on 1-day duration task A on Monday and also 100%
on 1-day duration task B, also on Monday (thus being overallocated, booked
200% when his max is 100%), leveling will shift the lower priority task to
Tuesday or the first time after that where Joe has an 8-hour period of time
free. That's really all it does.
