cursor suddenly jumps to a new location when typing

I have a fujitsu laptop with a touch pad. Can anyone
suggest a reason/solution to the fact that occasionally
when typing, my cursor randomly will suddenly jump to a
new location in a document. My system is quipped with XP
(Service Pack1).

It is the touch pad. You are probably resting your hand on the touch pad
while typing. I hate those things!
