Custom dictionary on CD

I have a CD-ROM which will only install to Word versions 6, 7 and 97. I have
Office XP (Word 2002). I no longer have the older versions of Word. Word
seems to require that a custom dictionary be already installed in order to
incorporate it into Word 2002. How can I either install the dictionary
directly or get Word 2002 to recognise the dictionary on the CD?

Word 2002 has its own built-in dictionaries. You can also use personal
dictionaries which are simple text lists of words. Assign a personal
dictionary from tools > options > spelling and grammar. The dictionary on
the old Word install disc is irrelevant, however if you mean it is a third
party dictionary program then you will have to get a manufacturer's update
to enable it to integrate.

Check the CD to see if it has a .dic file on it or a .di? file that you
could change to a .dic file. It would need to be placed on your hard drive
in the same folder as your own custom dictionary. Then in the dictionary
dialog box you would need to add it as a dictionary. Can't say that this
will work but it is worth a shot.
