Custom Properties

If I set certain properties a certain way (i.e.,
set "Client" to SMITH, or set "MAtter" to 123456-7,
shouldn't I then be able to search within Word for all
documents with that variable?

We have no document management system. I am trying to
come up with a way to use the properties to help manage
docs instead.
