When creating a custom recurring event , Entourage crashes? Any ideas what the problem might be?
I have tried verifying and rebuilding the database, setting up a new identity, and refreshing preference files -all to no avail?

Just to be clear...a new Identity in Entourage without any accounts entered
crashes if you set up a recurring event? If yes, Go to System Preferences
--> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in
or use Fast User Switching. Test Entourage in the new User.

What did you find?

To clarify:-
existing mac account, entourage account and entourage identity causes the crash described.
Remedial work as described by me originally has no effect.
Following your advice anyway, I have created a new mac user account, with new entity and same entourage account details. Creating a custom recurring event in calendar works for this new mac user account. What do you suggest to debug the original mac user account?

What do you suggest to debug the original mac user account?

To eliminate your Identity, drag your Main Identity to Shared, then switch
back to the new User account. Drag (it actually copies) to the Office 2008
Identities folder in the Microsoft User Data folder. Switch to your old
Identity and see if it works in this new User.

If it works, then we know it's not your Identity. If it fails, then we need
to create a new Identity. Some preferences are actually stored in the
database file.

Ok. I have followed your suggestion, and the identity works with the test user. So it is not the identity.
I have also followed the suggestions in the link specified to no avail.

The problem is in the User's folder. The tests should have shown the
problem. The only other thing I can think to check is your hardware. Could a
bad sector on your disk be causing problems? Open Disk Utility and run a
check?

If your hardware is OK, then you might need to move into the new User's
account.
