dashes

Is there any easy way to insert em dashes and en dashes? First,
Publisher was putting them in and I didn't want them. Now I decided I do
want them and can't do it just from the keyboard. I see where you can
go to Insert -> symbol but that is quite cumbersome.

Thanks!

Use alt+0150 for en dash -
Use alt+0151 for em dash -

I was hoping for something simpler - a ctrl-(key) combo.

It happens randomly when I'm typing but I can't duplicate it or figure
out exactly what steps I just took.

Erika,

How about you use this work around. Use the alt keystrokes that Ron mentions
and put an en dash and em dash in a text box. Then copy the em dash, then go
to Tools > Autocorrect Options > and create a new auto correct by pasting
the em dash into the With field. And then create your own replace keystroke.
I used (- which created my em dash.

Not sure if that is what you want at all, but at least I tried :)

What works for me is use the dash twice for the long one. (It makes the long
dash and not a double short dash).
And use the dash once for the short one. If it produces a long dash, back
space once.

Ok, will try this too! Thanks!
