data disappears

I'm a new user of PP and am attempting to link data from Excel to a slide.
I've managed to create the links, but the data on the PP slide disappears
whenever I click outside the border of the data. Is this normal? What can I
do to make it stop?

I meant to say the data disappears whenever I click INSIDE the border, not
outside. Does that make a difference. My data doesn't have a black background.
