Data file compatibilaty 2000 vs 2003

Bill Keeler

I have duel boot system ME & XP. Office 2000 SB installed on both. Documents
folder on separate drive accessible by both installs. I am installing
Upgrade Office 2003 Pro on XP. My question is:
Are 2000 and 2003 data files compatible? Or does 2003 change file format as
to prevent 2000 on ME from reading the data files on the separate Drive
where the documents are stored? Thanks in advance. Bill K

2003 is backwards compatible.

Yes, except for newer features used in the latest version. Also, if you are
using the unicode .pst format for Outlook, it cannot be read by any prior
version.
