Date Attribute for PST files

P

I am running Outlook 2003. I use a backup program to regularly backup
my files. My Archive Folders.pst file is rather large. About 1Gig and
takes a while to backup. Unfortunately, Outlook 2003 keeps updating the
file date attribute when outlook is open, even though I am not changing
the contents of the PST file (such as adding or moving messages to its
subfolders etc). Is this normal behavior for Outlook 2003 or could some
other program be updating the file and/or date attribute. Thanks

Outlook constantly modifies things in PSTs even if you don't change anything
overt. It does auto-compaction & such
