Dealing with a curropt document

I have a word document, each time I open it, it tells me that my document
maybe curropt, it then lets me in. I would like to know how to uncurropt the
document, before I PDF it, it is a large document so transfering it to PDF
then back in to rich text is not an option and would take a great deal of
time. Please any suggestions?
