Default Animation Effects for Objects

E

Ernest Gunn

Hello.
I am using PowerPoint together with MathType (full-bodied version of
Equation Editor) extensively right now. MathType creates equation objects
that behave like drawing objects; PowerPoint does not understand about
in-line equations the way that Word does. (I've asked for better behavior on
the MS wishlist. I expect that it will all come true in XML heaven.)

So every equation has to go into Ppt as an object. OK. I animate them. The
trouble is that I have to change every one's animation effect from Fly to
Left to Appear, which is what I prefer. I'd love to do a simple setting on
my Master Slide, but I don't know how. Any way to change this default Fly to
Left behavior?

PS: I've looked at 2000 messages on this newsgroup and don't see an FAQ.
I've also looked at MVP websites.

Help? Thanks.

Hello Ernest,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for.
Although some defaults can be customized (such as using the Options dialog)
other defaults (such as Paste format, Defauts for each animation effect,
etc.) are built-in and cannot be customized and require manual or VBA
workarounds.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide more control over various default behaviors, settings, etc.
(without have to resort to VBA or 3rd party add-ins), don't forget to send
your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Don't see an FAQ on this particular question or in general?

In general: www.pptfaq.com

Which, alas, doesn't have a good answer for the question in specific.

A recorded macro could probably save some key/mouse-strokes, though.

Thank you. I've changed the subject so that others won't repeat my error.
I've seen other groups where a listmom posts pointers to the FAQ on a
monthly basis.

Sometimes I play mom too and leave this elaborate sig line in place. ;-)
I think you'll find that this is one of the friendliest and least nannyish
NGs around. <g>

Hello Ernest,

Yes, this is the same situation for PowerPoint 2003 (the animation features
in PowerPoint 2003 are identical to those in PowerPoint 2002)
