Default Font - PowerPoint 2000

How do I change the default font in PowerPoint? I know
it`s possible to change font for a specific slide show,
but I want to change it permanently...

You can't change it at the application level. The default font is attached
to the template or presentation. If you open a .POT file and then go to
View > Master > Slide Master and set the default font, then do a File > Save
as > File type .POT, every time you use that template, the default font will
be set to your preference.
