Default Paper size

Hi I am in the UK and am Having problems with publisher.
My Old machine would automatically default to A4 size
paper but this new machine seems to love Letter size. I
need publisher to default to A4or else this creates
problems with my printer etc.
I can change the paper size in the Printers section and
choosing A4 but I need it to default to A4
Anyone any ideas?
