delete old calendars and recurring appointment notifications

I have appoint notifications showing up for items that are not on my calendar. At one point I had a couple of calendars showing up in My Calendars but I deleted them. I am still getting the recurring appointment notifications from the old calendars. Since the appointments aren't on my current calendar I can't get to them to delete them. Any advice?
