deleted files

I was moving some files into a folder when my screen
flashed and the files as well as several folders
disappeared. They are not in my recycle bin or in my back-
up folder. Any ideas where they might have gone? I've
tried a system restore to two days before this happened
and still didn't get them back. How can I find those
files?

Did you by chance accidentally move into a different folder? Do a file
search for a known file name in one of those folders (or expand all of your
folders around where you were moving them from to see if they got dumped
elsewhere. In most cases, you can also do an "Edit", "Undo" to move them
back.
