Deleting Files

PPT 2000. When I save and later delete ppt files they continue to show up
under the heading, "Open an existing presentation". Why do these deleted
files still appear and how can I have them permanently removed from this
page?

That list comes from the Registry setting for Most Recently Used. Go to Tools >
Options > General and uncheck the Recently used file list. Close PowerPoint and
then reopen it. The list should be gone, but not permanently. If you go to
Tools > Options > General and check the Recently used file list, they will
return. However, as you open existing files in PowerPoint they will be added to
the list and others will fall off. Here's another trick:

Fill the MRU (Most Recently Used) list with bogus file names

In PowerPoint 2000 you see it in both places *if* you haven't turned Startup
dialog off and you have Recently used files checked.
