Deleting Messages inbox outlook 2003

I am new to Microsoft office 2003, I have many messages in my in box that I
would like to delete in outlook. How can I?

Select the item, hit Delete key on you keyboard.
You can also hold Shift or Ctrl key (+ left mouse clicks) to select multiple
items.

If you have an Exchange server, select Edit, Purge Deleted Items.

That is for IMAP accounts, not Exchange SMTP accounts.
