Deploying Office 2003 OEM - license query?

Philip

Is it possible to deploy/roll out a centralised upgrade (from Office 2000 to
Office 2003) using OEM licenses?

There are roughly 150 client pc's, each with its own unique Office 2003
acivation key/cd-key.

If this is not possible, which looks to be the case, any alternatives or
suggestions would be greatly apprecaited... other than purchasing 150 volume
licenses or manually upgrading each client.

thanks in advance

An OEM version of Office 2003 cannot upgrade over an
existing Office 2000 installation. Office 2000 would have to
be uninstalled first. Also, each installation would require the
manual input of each individual Product Key. Otherwise,
you'll need a Volume License version of Office 2003.

Hi Philip,

If these are for individual customers then you may want
to visit the OEM/System builders site at Microsoft. There are
separate tools for doing setups that include Office
http://microsoft.com/oem

If you're deploying within a company then enrolling in
the MS volume licensing program that best fits your needs
and using the enterprise Office 2003 products with a volume license key
http://microsoft.com/licensing
affords you additional tools and methods for central installation
(Office Admin Installation Point) and for maintenance and deployment
http://microsoft.com/office/ork/2003
not available for OEM (standalone) editions.

If you're using OEM copies then you may want to look into
MS Products such as System Management Server (SMS) or
the MS Software Update Services feature to manage updating
the client PCs by 'connecting' through the network.
