Design Checker

Is there anyway to stop the Design Checker from checking a whole article on
opening? We have a project that is 86 pages and we don't want the whole
article checked everytime we open it up. We do want to check certain pages
that are being worked on. Thanks.

I use design checker often. I just ignore the pages that are still in
progress but I've yet to have a Pub file that large. I don't know of a way
to tell it not to check certain pages tho. Sorry.

I never looked - Let me check.................... 2003, yes, you can.

From the Help file:
Design Checker Options Click this link to open the Design Checker Options
dialog box, where you can set display options for the problems that are
listed in the Design Checker task pane. You can also select a page range to
check, or enable and disable specific checks.

I assume 2002 is the same (or similar).

In 2000 the page/s can be selected. A feature dropped in later versions ?

That doesn't work. To get to the Design Checker Options, you have to open
Design Checker and it immediately starts checking the 80 page article. How
can you get to the options without opening the Design Checker?

Your only alternative would be let the Design Checker open, select the object(s)
the Checker says needs fixing, click "never run this check again." It may speed
up the checker in future openings.

Doesn't help--that object doesn't exist in 2003 if nothing needs fixing.
It's a shame that Microsoft took away the ability to use the Design Checker
"as needed". This will make us move up to a better Desktop Publishing
software such as Quark Express or InDesign. Too bad.
