Desktop alert

Desktop alert only works when I launch Outlook and select send/receive from
the toolbar. This happens no matter what I have checked in e-mail options. It
also does not work when Outlook is opened and minimized. I've used and
followed the help files in Outlook. Please advise.

The alert only happens when you receive a new e-mail. If your mail is
not set to automatically retrieve mail from the the ISP, no alert. Check
your Send/Receive settings (Options, Mail Setup, Send/Recieve)
