Dial-up user unable to use Outlook 2000

We have several laptops (Win 2k) with Outlook 2000. One guy has problems
(often) getting on to Outlook. (He has to use OWA.)

I don't see any configuration differences in his laptop compared to one here
that gets one fine.

I'm running out of ideas...?!

Any help much appreciated.

Define "has problems." For example, does his computer burst into a flames?
Does he get an error message? etc.

(Pls forgive if I posted 2x...)

He gets hourglass, then "retry server" message, he hits "ok" -- but then is
asked if he wants to work offline...

Forgot to mention -- Exchange server 5.5.

What's the real message? I'm sure it doesn't just say "retry server."

Can this machine resolve the server by name, like if the user tries to ping
the server by name? If so, when he pings, is there a reply?
