Difference between two Office 2003 CD's

D

DOsser

I have two copies of Office 2003 Professional, both sent directly from
Microsoft late last year, and received within a few weeks of each other.

They are subtly different - as far as I can tell from a cursory look at
the files, the only difference is in the root directory file PRO11N.MSI.

Earlier received version:
PRO11N.MSI 08/15/2003 05:05 AM 5,923,328 bytes
Later version
PRO11N.MSI 08/15/2003 05:06 AM 5,787,648 bytes

The holographic part numbers on the CD's are also different.

Does anybody know what the difference is/was? They work equally well.

Err.. no, ... but I'm interested in why the question. I did go back and
do a more thorough comparison and found that each have a couple of .cab
files that aren't in the other and the later one has two .cab files with
content related to Infopath that are missing in the earlier version.

I'll just bury my innate curiosity and assume that the later one has
some last-minute corrections - these were both very early in the
Office2003 roll-out.

Thank you for the response.

Hi Dosser,

The MS Office 2003 w/Infopath product was a retail
channel edition that was distributed mainly at
Office 2003 Launch events in October 2003 to
launch attendees.
