Different First Page Header & Footer

I am using Word XP. I have a letterhead template and wish to have the
letterhead (header and footer) appear only on the first page with subsequent
pages blank. I have tried every method from prior Word versions to
accomplish this but to no avail. Is there a secret procedure to create this
in Word XP?

You do it like it sounds. Setup the page settings to have a different first
page header. Insert a temporary page break so you can see what you are
doing. Create first and subsequent page headers, ensuring that the 'same as
previous' switch is not set. When happy with the results, delete the page
break.
