Disgusted with 2007 - others?

I installed 2007 about 3 months ago. It is very, very, very, very
slow. I have several 500kb files that open in about 1 second with
2003. The 2007 version takes 60seconds or more. In addition to that
aggrivation, 2007 needs to "repaint' the screen everytime I make a
change or even move within the file. Consequently, I don't use 2007
except when I need to print a pretty little schedule with 3d bars.

Anybody else have any thoughts/comments/complaints/praises?

If you suspect a bloated file, you could try the suggestions in FAQ Item:
43. Handling project file corruption and/or bloat. FAQs, companion products
and other useful Project information can be seen at this web address:

Repainting the screen is something I've not come across before. We need to
discover whether your project is at fault, whether it is Project at fault,
or whether it's your PC. Does the symptom occur with other projects on this
PC? Does it occur with this project on other PCs? Does it occur with other
projects on other PCs?

Have you installed SP!. Note that SP2 is now available for download so I
recommend installing that as well.

it must be the machine or the install. I have no problems with 2003.
my colegue in another city has no problems at all. i will install SP1
& 2 and if that doesn't work i will do a reinstall

Read the install instructions, but I think SP2 includes SP1.

I had some crashing problems in 2007 when I had a set of master/sub
projects with about 10,000 tasks ... but this problem has (knock on
wood) disappeared in Project 2007 as of yesterday.

Otherwise despite a few bugs which are fixed on SP2, Proj 2007 worked fine.
