Display sharer file project name in resource pool

G

Gagarin

We have multiple projects using a single resource pool. We want t
report off the resource pool in the attached format.

Do you know how to get the sharer file project name onto the resourc
pool and how to display the information in this format?

Hi Gagarin,

I cannot view your attachment without registering so I can't say if thie
following directly addresses your question - but here's an option:

Add the Project field to the Resource Usage view to see what project
file the assignments come from.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie, but we've tried that, and it's not quite what is required
If you look at the bmp attached here (go on, register, it doesn't cos
anything), you will see that only the project name of the resource poo
is displayed. We need data ordered Resource -> Project -> Task, so w
can see which project an individual is working on

Hi Gagarin,

I'm not sure I understand why you could only see the Resource Pool file
name in the Project field added to the resource usage view.

Did you add the Project field to the Resource Usage view or add a custom
field (text1 for example) with the formula of [Project]? The only way I
can reproduce what you have in the bmp file is to add the custom field
with the formula.

If the resource pool is attached to other project files and the resource
is assigned to tasks in the sharer files, you should see the project
file name next to the assignment line.

Try these steps:

Open the resource pool with option 3 creating a consolidated project.
Return to the Resource pool file
Display the Resource Usage View
Create a custom group (Project > Group by > More Groups, New)
Name the custom group to your choice.
First row:
Group by: Name
Field Type: Resource
Order: Ascending

Click the check box for Group assignments, not resources
Second Row:
Then by: Project
Field Type: Assignment
Order: Ascending

The table (left side) will display:
Resource Name Total Work
Project File Name Total Work on Project
Assignment 1 Work on assignment
Assignment 2 Work on assignment
Next Resource....

The timescaled portion of the view (right side) will show the
distribution of the work.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

You're a wee star!

That's EXACTLY what was needed and, yes, the reason I couldn't see th
other project names was because I had used a custom field.

Many thanks for your help
