Document not saving back to server

When we edit an office document (infopath form) from sharepoint, saving it
defaults to 'my documents'. Why doesn't it get saved back to sharepoint? Is
this an affect of the specific user's environment variables? how can this be
fixed? Thanks in advance for the help!
