When a document is uploaded to a subweb for a project, where (physically on
the server) is the document stored? Are documents stored in different
directories for different projects?

In C:\Intepub\wwwroot\121\Shared Documents or Lists
directories depending on how you create it. The 121
stands for the project number given to the project when
the subweb was created.
