Double click on Word, Excel, etc. takes very long to open

Hi,

Double clicking on a Word, Excel, Access, etc. file takes over 30 seconds to
open. PC specs: P4, 3.2Gig, 3gig RAM, .5 Ter DASD.

HELP!

Clear your TEMP folder, defrag your HD and check for addins causing

After defrag all MS office applications open much faster.

Great...glad to hear it.

Yeah, on NTFS, it can lag again soon...so you'll want to keep up with
that about once a month??? Depends on how much work you do. I only
defrag about every few months, but I do keep my TEMP folder cleared
nearly every day.

This is not meant to be sarcastic but do you mean using the XP
defragmenter even if a scan says defragmentation is unnecessary?
I do a scan every month or so but it is quite a while since
defragging was recommended.

I don't do it that often...but I have done it even when the app says
it's not needed...maybe I'm about to embark on a bunch of stuff that
needs full resources?
