XP SP2, Outlook 2002.

I have a folder C:\Junk in which I keep jokes, video clips, etc. If I try
to send one of these files (say file.jpg) as an attachment, I right click
and
choose copy. I then open up a new message in Outlook, To, Subject, and then
right click in the message area and choose Paste. At this point a duplicate
file called file1.jpg gets saved in C:\Junk. This duplicate file has the
same date stamp as the original file. I get no prompts asking me whether to
save a duplicate.

I have a "clipboard extender" but this duplication occurs with ClipExt
closed down. The duplication occurs before I send the email, so I think
nothing to do with NAV.

Any help, pls

Why not use attachment icon, then browse to the file.
or use Forward and delete parts of msg body not req.

Yes, that works, but that way is slower. Using the attachment icon Outlook
always opens up in Docs and Settings, where I don't keep my data. My way
has always worked till I did a new install. I trying to work why this has
happened. It's bizarre.

What happens if you create a new message and then just drag the attachment
to the message?

I just tried it and yes dragging produces a duplicate file!
