Drawing Canvas Flashes

Help! I have inserted an image of a map into my document and labeled
it. All was fine and then when I returned to the page to print it, the
drawing began to flash. The flashing does not stop. I cannot print
until I get it to stop by clicking on it and waiting until the click
"catches" and then attempting to edit a feature of the drawing. When I
stop the flashing in this manner I can print the page or any other
page.

I cannot seem to center the map either. I feel so ignorant. Can anyone
help?
