Hi All,

I have a request from a user to allow them to use a drop down box to look up
an ITEM or a DESCRIPTION. Would it be possible in a drop down box with 2
colums to allow them to look up by the column 1 or the column 2? I hope this
makes sense.

Thanks
Matt

Try using Option Group like this --
SELECT [6600 Course].CourseID, [FREQ] & " " & [COURSE] FROM [6600 Course]
ORDER BY IIf([Forms]![YourFormName]![Frame4]=1,[FREQ],[COURSE]);

You are limited to only one sort order so if item Z1 is an apple and item Z2
is a pony you won't have much luck.

You could, with a bit of work, change the source of the dropdown by adding a
second layer but I've never had anyone complain about having two boxes to
pick from.

If the item is always a number and the description never starts with a
number you could possibly switch on the fly.

Unless there are thousands of items it is likely that they will quickly
learn the item numbers in any event.
