Hi all, I have a very annoying issue, which i hoep someone can help
with. None of our projects are calculation the duration field.

I have tried a task types etc, and the duration is always 1,
regardless of the work entered.

I have selected calculate automatically from the options tab, but
still to no avail.

grateful for any help on this, as loosing hair by the minute.

Many Thanks

Duration does not depend on Work.
Work depends on Duration (and Resources assigned).
Duration is estimated, not calculated.

Duration is not always driven by work entered; you can assign multiple people
to a task and keep the duration constant.

Check to see what type of task you have-- the default is fixed units. It
appears you may have fixed duration.

You can examine the task type by selecting Window/Split while in Gantt View.
The task type shows in the bottom pane. Alternatively, you can insert a
task type column to see them all at once.

To view/change the default task type, select Tools/Options... Pull the
Schedule tab and select "Fixed Units" as the default task type.

Hi Steve,

In addition to Trevor and Jim's suggestions -- and perhaps just to
clarify a bit.

Work and Duration are only related once you have assigned resources. If
you haven't created resources and assigned the resources to the tasks,
you can change work all you want and you will not see a change in
duration. Same holds true if you change duration you will not see a
change in work.
