Duration

Hi all,

I have a main project and a sub-project and at some point I have
levelled resources and changed the standard working hours under tools,
options, calender. I'm not sure whether this has somehow affected the
plan. The number of days under the duration column on the gantt chart
changed from whole numbers to numbers with decimals. I re-entered the
numbers as whole numbers which was fine, but the sub tasks(in bold)
have not changed. These still appear in decimal format. Obviously, I
can't change these fields on the gantt chart.

Can anyone help?

Hi Gerard,

Thanks for that. It doesnt seem to have made a difference.

Any other ideas?

I'm looking at task usage and on the right it shows a one day duration
at 7.5hrs and on the left calendar it shows 7.33hrs on thursday and
0.17h on friday. This to me means there is some confusion on how many
hrs there are in a working day? Or the format for 7.5hrs is something
else?

Regards
Sheila

In the Tools Options menu select View and choose a date format that includes
the time in the display. You'll probably find the task in question doesn't
start eaxctly at the start of the workday.

Rather than the work starting at 9am, its starts at 910am, which may
well be the difference but how can you overcome this?

Usually, in this situation, if you look, you'll find a predecessor that
finishes at 9:10 am. You have to backtrack and find the original
"offending" task that somehow, through choices you unknowingly made,
got scheduled to fractional days. Fix the first one and the others move
to beginning of days as you would like them to.
