Dynamically linking graphics to PowerPoint

PowerPoint 2000

I'd like to automatically generate PowerPoint presentations based on a
mixture of Excel sheets and graphic images. Thus, I'd have 1 template that I
can use to generate 20 different presentations with dynamic tables and
graphics.

I have no problems linking to specific cells in Excel to dynamically update
data in my PPT presentation. But, I'm having trouble dynamically linking to
..jpg images. Is it possible to store hyperlinks in Excel, and then to have
PowerPoint reference those hyperlinks to embed the graphics in the
presentation? And, what is the best way to do that?
