E-mail message formate templates

I'm using Word as an email editor, but I can't change the default formatting of the email message. I want to change the default font and font size. I can see an email template in Word's general templates pane within the Word window, but I can't open it as a template to modify it. How can I do this?

You can change the default font and colour in Tools-> Options-> tab Mail
Format

You can change a template (dot-file) by rightclicking on it and choose Open
(default is New which creates a new document based on that template)
