e-mail messages- no message body! please help!

I have recently installed Outlook 2003. The only problem I have encountered so far is that a significant percentage of messages I receive do not include the body of the message. The message preview includes re:, from: and to: information as well as attachments - but no message body. If I doubleclick on the preview and bring the message to full screen - I can then go to the view menu and message source when I can read the body. I have lowered the level of security settings to attempt a fix. No impact. Have I selected some setting that is causing this?
