Earned Value for Software Projects

I am having difficulty setting up software projects for earned value
calculations. Basically when a task starts, I want it's budgeted cost to
appear in the BCWS. As the task proceeds, I want proratable cost to
accumulate in ACWP, or I want to add the actual costs without the % complete
changing from zero. However, I want BCWP to remain at zero until the project
is 100%. Tasks in software projects are all or nothing (0% or 100% done). I
don't want BCWP to be based on a % complete other than 0% or 100%. When I
BCWP and BCWS correct, ACWP shows up as zero.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can get two of the three things to
give the correct values, but not all three.

Hello,
If you don't want BCWP to be based on a % Complete, go to :
Tools / Options / Calculation / Earned value / Default task Earned Value
method : Physical % Complete.
So you can make a progressive tracking of your tasks (not very useful if
the tasks duration is short) without generating a BCWP until you*manually*
set the Physical % complete to 100%.
