Easy way to copy .pub file from desktop & paste on laptop??

What is the easiest way to copy a .pub file from my desktop running IE8,
Office 2007, and Vista Ultimate and paste the same .pub file onto my laptop
running IE7, Office 2007, and WinXP?

Just when you thought you were rid of me, I am back.

I need to create another main folder on my "laptop's" C-Drive Stem called
"HOA WEBSITE," and a sub-folder, called, "downloads," so I can place the .pdf
files into it, and replicate all that I have learned from you guys so I can
change my website using the .pub file loaded onto my laptop.

I think I am ready to make the leap now, but I need a simple way to send the
..pub folder from my desktop to my laptop. Yes, the desktop is using IE8 and
Vista, while the laptop is using IE7 and WinXP, but I have read and kept your
advice from our last post with 54 questions and replies.

You could copy the file to a USB drive, or a floppy (file size permitting),
a CD, or email the file to yourself and save it on the other computer.
If the file is too big to email, you could use "Transfer Big Files Free"

Don, this sounded like a great option, and your hot link took me right to the
BIG FILE site, and while the .pub file took awhile to load, when it did, a
message informed me that the person to whom I was sending this to would
receive a note of its arrival. That was 1.5 hours ago, but the large file
did not arrive in my email account.

Maybe there is something special I did not do.

Spike, a good reply, and now like all things in the world, I have to get out
my Microsoft manual and determine how to make this happen.

I also have a copy of PCmover and PCsync5 that can move some or all of the
folders from one computer to another, so this may be another option.

I did create the folder on my C-Drive "HOA WEBSITE" and the sub-folder in
this folder called, "downloads," so I am ready to start uploading the .pub
file from my laptop, once I get the file loaded on my laptop.

Using filezilla create a folder on the server "pub_files"
Upload the pub file to the new folder
Go to other computer and download it using filezilla
Two things just happened
You transferred a copy to the other computer
You created a backup copy of the pub file

It will not send the file to you, it only sends a link to the file which is
stored on their server.

My guess is the Big Files site is busy. I gave it a test when first hearing
of it and it worked fine for me.

sorry I have not been writing to you sooner, but I have been outside
building a garage for this lady whose husband died. Saturday it was 95
degrees during my work, and by the end of the day, I had no real energy to
look at your suggestions.

I am trying to figure out how to create a folder on FileZilla called
"Pub_Files," and while I can see File, Edit, View, Transfer, Server,
Bookmarks, Help and New verison available, none of these seem to allow me to
create a folder of any type.

I am stumped as to how to make this happen.

Maybe I am not seeing something, or need to read more of the FileZilla
information to make this happen.

Whatever I am missing, please point me to the place, and I will come up to
speed.

Don's 2¢:

Creating a folder on the ISP server:
Using FileZilla, connect to your website folder.
Pointing to the remote FileZilla window, right click and select "Create a
Directory".
Now upload the pub file.

BTW, the current FileZilla version is 3.2.4.1

1. I did "right click" on the space where the other three folders for my
current website are shown (left open window in FileZilla).
2. I named this folder, "HOA PUB FOLDER"
3. I could see this same new folder on my C-Drive stem on my computer
4. I opened the HOA - La Canada Norte Folder on my desktop (Publisher
software driven), not the HOA PUB FOLDER, and placed my cursor over the .pub
file for my website, and clicked on "copy."
5. I opened the HOA PUB FOLDER shown on my C-Drive Stem, and also shown on
FileZilla.
6. I right clicked, paste, and the entire .pub file used to make changes to
my website is now located in this HOA PUB FOLDER shown on FileZilla.

Now, I assume that once I download the current version of FileZilla "onto my
laptop," and get it opened, I will be able to see the same information on my
laptop as when I open FileZilla on my desktop?

I am also assuming that once I can see the "new" folder, HOA PUB FOLDER at
FileZilla, I can somehow right click on this folder and open it, then click
on "copy," and then "paste it on my laptop" in the Publisher file for my
website?

Am I getting the drift of what you wanted me to do?

Let's review where you are at and what the goal is:

This is what I think you have and what you want:

Let's call one computer Desktop and thee other computer, Laptop.

Presently your website is up and working with all of your website Publisher
files on the Desktop computer.

The goal is to Move all of the Website Publisher file from the Desktop
computer to the Laptop computer.
Note: Don't have the Publisher files on both computers. If you do, you
could end up with two different versions of the files due to editing of the
website.

The simplified way of Moving the files from Desktop to Laptop:
Using a thumbdrive, copy all the website files on the Desktop computer.

Move the Thumbdrive from the Desktop computer to the Laptop computer.

Copy the folder containing the Publisher website files.

Now install FileZilla to the Laptop. With both computer have FileZilla open.
Copying paths and password will be an easy task.
Note the current version of FileZilla is 3.2.4.1

Do some test uploads to verify all is working OK.

If all is working, you are complete.

You may now delete the website files from the Desktop computer.

You have said it much better, and are correct in all ways.

I will use a larger thumb drive to move the .pub file from my desktop to my
laptop, and then do some checking when both the desktop and laptop have
FileZilla installed to see what might work. I will do some test uploads to
verify all is working OK.

Many thanks, and I will try this solution about 8 p.m. Am home for lunch
before I go back and put a roof that garage I was building.
