Edit story in MS Word - Out of Memory

W

Wayne Wilson

I am unable to use the "edit story in Word" feature with
MS Pub '03. However, I *can* open MS Word while Pub is
running and do copy/paste editing.

I have tried disabling script blocking in NAV to no avail.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Have you disabled the Microsoft Office PlugIn in NAV?

Thanks for your advice.
I tried disabling the MS Office plugin as per your
recommendation. Still get the low memory error. Tried
disabling BOTH the plugin and script blocking. I still am
unable to use MS Word to edit within Publisher.

Any other ideas?
TIA.

What happens if you uninstall Norton?

In addition to Brian's reply:
Before you uninstall Norton AntiVirus, download AVG Free from
www.grisoft.com. Then disconnect all internet and LAN connections, and
ununstall NAV. Now reboot your computer, and install AVG Free. Then reboot
again, restore your internet and LAN connections, and try editing the story
in Word again.

Thank you for your suggestions, however, nuking NAV seems
to me to be a bit extreme...

1. The editing features of MS Pub '03 are much more
robust than when I first started using Pub 95 and got
hooked on the "edit in Word" feature.
2. Opening a separate window for MS Word and copy/pasting
isn't that big of a hassel (compared with dumping NAV
which caught and stopped 5 viruses so far this month.)

Recommend that the folks in Redmond consider this a bug
worth fixing.

Thanks again for your posts.

Wayne,

It does sound a bit extreme, but it's part of the troubleshooting scenario
that we want to try. This is a bug with Norton products, not Microsoft. I
would recommend seeing if uninstalling Norton fixes your problem. I also
recommend that you contact Symantec and voice your complaint about their
buggy software. Hopefully they will fix this long standing problem, as it's
a known issue on the Symantec website as one of their KB articles.
