Edited pictures appear dark

If I insert a jpeg image in a WORD document and right click it for editing,
without doing anything to the image and simply closing the edit, the new
result is a much darker picture. What is the problem? It is utilizing the
Microsoft picture editor for editing. If I edit with Paint, there is no
problem.

Not sure why it is appearing darker than you planned...but you can
click View > Toolbars > Picture and use the Brightness/Contrast
buttons on that toolbar to adjust the look in Word while you have the
pic selected.
