Editing in Word

Having created a Publisher Document which had been saved to disk, and later
discovering that it could be edited in Word, with which I am more familiar,
I "sent the pub to Word, using the drop-down menu. On completion of the
editing tasks, I sent it back to Publisher, using the menu.

To my shock, the font sizes were changed in what appeared to be random
fashion. I did not change any fonts while in Word. I did add text and make
typo corrections while there. 12 point fonts became 24 point throughout the
publication. Now, I did use 24 point on the first page of the publication.
That was the only place in a 20 page pub.

Why did this happen?

Uh...because you converted a desktop publishing file to a word document?
Don't do that. You can do your layout in Pub then plop Word text into Pub -
but still you should do your formatting in Pub not Word.

That is a tool to edit the contents of a text box in Word, not send an
entire publication to Word.

I have no idea why it is doing this to you; I never use it.

The Menu item is labeled "Edit Story in Word. Following your comment, I had
placed the cursor inside a text box, which by the way is linked to another
text box, etc. The text in the text box opened in Word with the fonts as
defined in Publisher. In order to test the process, I deleted a small
paragraph of text and then used to menu item to Close and return to
Publisher. The font size changed. Something is wrong with the process.

I've used it but, to be honest with you, it was a pain in the butt. It is
easier to copy and paste something into and out of Word. This could be
because my system is older - or maybe not.
