email accounts

I have more than one email id in Microsoft Outlook....how do I switch from one id to the next so that I can only send/receive from one at a time?

BYW, I am using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. On outlook express, I could open one account/email or the other. It appears as though on Outlook 2003 I can receive or send from either account, not giving privacy to either user.

You might want to give us a little more information on what you're trying to
set up. It sounds like there are two users on your machine and they both
use Outlook -- is that correct? Do they have separate Windows logins or do
both use the same Windows login?

We use the same Windows login, and yes, we both use Outlook. I am trying to set it up so that he can use his email, and I can use mine, without being able to see each other's email unless we have their password. As it currently stands, even though we both have our own email addresses, we can still see each other's email.

In that case, you should set up separate Outlook mail profiles for each
user. You can do this through Control Panel | Mail | Show Profiles. Each
profile should have only one of the e-mail accounts attached to it, and each
should have its own separate .PST file for data storage. Set it to prompt
for a profile each time Outlook starts. You will need to close and reopen
Outlook to switch profiles.

Also, for complete privacy, you should password protect the .PST files. If
the folder list isn't visible in Outlook, click View | Folder List.
Right-click the root folder of the .PST file (usually "Personal Folders" or
"Outlook Today"), click Properties on the popup menu, click the Advanced
button on the General tab, then click Change Password. Be VERY careful not
to forget the password, as it is neither easy nor cheap to get back into
your file without it. Now when you select a profile at Outlook startup, the
user should be prompted for his/her .PST file password. Do this for each
..PST file, when each user's profile is running.
