Email Collaboration

Our company has been attempting, unsuccessfully, to set up
email collaboration using Project 2002 Standard and
Groupwise 6. We are considering moving over to Project
Server, but I would like to know whether email
collaboration with Groupwise 6 is likely to work with the
server version and if it is necessary to have a CAL for
each email user, even if they only provide updates via
email.

To the best of my knowledge the email capabilities of Project and Project
server only work with 100% MAPI compliant systems such as Outlook with MS
Exchange. I think MS Mail also works and I've seen some very limited
success with Lotus Notes but I've never heard of anyone successfully using
Groupwise. Once you have Project Server up and running the preferred way of
seeing tasks and submitting updates is via Server Web Access rather than
email - in fact, the file wgsetup.exe that is necessary to activate email
collaboration onthe client workstations is no longer bundled with Project
2002 as it was with earlier releases and has to be downloaded from the MS
knowledge base. FYI email collaboration has been removed completely from
Project 2003 both Pro and Standard, the only version that talks to Server is
Pro, and Project Server 2003's Web Access is the only method way for people
without MS Project to communicate.

Do you have any informatin on where the wgsetup file might
be in the knowledge base? I can't seem to find it...

Right you are - I was under the impression it had been removed from the
distribution CD.
