Email not deleting from server even with the option ON

I've gone thru the Advanced Settings for my POP email settings. I selected
Leave Message on Server and selected the 2 options below it to remove from
server after 4 days and the Delete from Server if deleted in Trash.

But yet the emails remain on the server when I Send/Receive. Any
suggestions?
