Email notification cannot be disabled

Hey,

we got the problem that we cannot disable the email notification serivces
within Microsoft Project Server 2003. We are running a two-server system
(application- and database-server on different units) and SP2a has already
been deployed.

Some years ago we wanted to use this notifications but as time goes by we
figured out that this feature is no more necessary and we decided to disable
it. So we did the following:
- disabled the feature within the PWA settings page (removed the SMTP
server)
- deleted all email addresses within the enterprise resourcepool
- double-checked the table MSP_WEB_RESOURCES and set all WRES_EMAIL field to
NULL
- disabled the SMTP service on the application server

We have been forced to go through all these steps (step by step) in order to
reduce the email notifications sent out by the ProjectServer. But by today
the server is still sending emails to our resources.

In a sample case I recognized following:
- a resource has been added to a project plan from the enterprise resource
pool,
- the plan has been published,
- the resource got a notification and
- the email address was shown within the table MSP_WEB_RESOURCES

Now I am wondering where ProjectServer found this email address (before
asking: I am very sure that ALL addresses have been deleted within the table
since I've remove this by an update statment applying for all resources and
I have double checked the result).

I am appreciating any answers!
