Email relaying

Joe

Hello,

I am wondering if this can be done with FP

I have posted it before and received a ambiguous answer
but it was also not directly posted so here goes.

I have a total at this time 5 web sites and I have two
servers, one is a few miles away. I want to off-load 3 of
these sites to that server (which I have no problem
publishing to) The problem that I face is the mail server
is Here with me and I cannot get the forms to work over
there. (Email that is)

I have no problem letting the IP through on my end but how
do tell FP to do this or FPSE for that matter?

Can I set the server a few miles away to relay or Use my
mail server with FP ? Has anyone tried this? I am doing it
because of resource depletion over here with me and a very
large site launch in September.

Thanks very much
Joe

The physical location of a server is of no consequence on a TCP/IP network.
If the SMTP server has a public IP address, you can connect to it. You still
have to connect to it, and you still have to connect to it via TCP/IP,
regardless of its physical location.

Again, the physical location/distance of the mail server is irrelevant. Can
you allow relaying on the SMTP server? Of course. You can allow relaying on
ANY SMTP server. You need to interface with the SMTP Server in order to
change this setting. How you interface with it depends upon the server
software.

Kevin thanks for your reply,

It does matter because I need to know how to get FP to use
my Server for mail I understand what you are thinking here
but it is different that what I am saying here. What I do
is very different from the norm.

The question in hand is
How do you get FPSE to use my server for mail. This means
somewhere along the line FPSE will have to use a different
IP to know what server to use. Where? do you put this How
do you tell FPSE to use my server? I am aware of how to
use FPSE and where to configure the server to use but I
have tried this with a server other than the one on the
machine and I get the famous FP error. It seems as if this
will go unanswered.
Thanks
Joe

he was looking for, but he apparently didn't accept or understand them.

Tom Thanks for your reply
However I do understand how to set up email for/with FP If
you would like you can go to these domains
Lodestarpublications.net
Immoralbalance.com and submit the contact form It WILL work
and I will get the mail on each individual server 5 of
them to be exact. and with subwebs and many other features.

However If you set up the same site which I have over here
12.164.57.107 it is the same site however the form does
not work WHY? I did nothing different there that I did
over here. Now maybe we can get somewhere. So is your
answer as it was a few days ago?

You cannot do this with FP? Because this really wasn't
directed as an answer to this problem and niether did I
post it as so. This is what I mean by amgiguous.
Thanks
Joe
