email settings for pop accounts

Peter

just reinstalled outlook and have set all pop email
settings for various email accounts but cannot send or
receive email. (only hotmail as http works).

when send test email, all actions work except last one:

"unable to send test message. pleae verify email address
field"

also cannot reply to existing messages in inbox - error
message - relaying email to 'email address' is not
allowed.

any help is appreciated.

Check your SMTP server settings (for the sending mail problem) - use the
same SMTP server for all your accounts (your ISP's) or make sure you're
authenticating to the appropriate one per account.

Re the test message - if you ignore the testing, and just try to use the
account, does it work?

thanks a lot.

sending email actually works; replying doesn't work - get
error message that 'relaying to example.email isn't
allowed'; other problem is that messages to my various
accounts do not come in to outlook, but are accessible at
hosted sites.

thanks again for your comments.

The error message that you're getting indicates that you may need to
authenticate to your outgoing server (press "More Settings..." on the
account page, then go to the "Outgoing Server" tab). Are you getting no
messages at all when you try to receive? Any error messages?
